Bouilly wrote the tales for the two children of the Duchesse de Berry (Marie-Caroline de Bourbon-Sicile, née Maria Carolina Ferdinanda Luise, 1798-1870), an Italian princess who married into the French royal family, was an important figure in the politics of Bourbon restoration, and the mother of Henri, Count of Chambord (1820-1883). She supported a wide variety of causes including equal education, equal pay, ending the exploitation of working women, and creating legislation against child marriage and sex trafficking. Early in her career, Fawcett founded Newnham College, a women's college at Cambridge, and supported early bids to open Cambridge degrees to women. Some rubbing and a few scuffs to binding extremities. A very good copy of a scarce set. This is a an exhaustive survey of Greek mythology, intended "as a useful and not inelegant manual, for the purposes of education in schools and families; besides forming a compendium suited to the cabinet or study of the amateur of the fine arts, and an interesting vade mecum for the young traveller in his tour through Italy and other countries of classic interest." It is dedicated to the future Victoria, then a child of eleven, and with the death of her uncle George IV and the accession of his brother William Duke of Clarence, the presumptive heir to the British throne. The name of the author is unknown, though she is clearly educated and literature. The dedication is dated Wadlands, July 1829.

The text is a humorous tale, attributed to Italian author Michele Colombo (1747-1830), together with a French version in verse by Alexis Piron (1689-1773), with English translations by Hibbert printed below. Cruikshank (1789–1856), elder brother of George Cruikshank, mounted on India paper. Boards rubbed, some spotting to calf, intermittent light foxing and offsetting. A good copy. With the armorial bookplate of Lady Davy (1780-1850), society figure, traveler, and wife of Sir Humphrey Davy.

Twelvemo. A good, tight copy of the first book by an author who would later propose the Baconian theory of Shakespeare authorship. Delia Bacon (1811 – 1859) was an author, playwright, and Shakespeare scholar who, during her lectures, popularized the theory that Francis Bacon (no relation) was the true author of Shakespeare's works. In 1856, William Henry Smith became the first to publish work advancing the theory, and Bacon published her first book on the theory, The Philosophy of the Plays of Shakespeare Unfolded, the next year. According to Bacon, "Shakespeare" was actually a group of writers including Francis Bacon, Sir Walter Raleigh, and Edmund Spenser.
