Description:
Chicago: University of Chicago Printing Department, ( 1965 ). First, Limited Edition. Sewn wrappers. Good. Octavo, unpaginated, stapled and sewn brown wrappers (of Fabriano paper), yapp edges bumped Copy no. 180 of 350 copies numbered and signed by Rago, of the total edition of 1000 copies, designed by Greer Allen. Rago was the Editor of Poetry Magazine when Eliot spoke at Chicago in 1959, "... the greatest crowd ever assembled in the history of Chicago to listen to poetry." A very quotable memoir and tribute. Rago's introduction of Eliot on that occasion was " an effort to define the exact sense in which T. S. Eliot, mor than any other writer of the twentieth century, has given our age its complete expression": More than Yeats; more than Pound; more than Valery, or Rilke; more than Joyce or Proust; - to name almost the entire list of those few who are in his company."
