Printed prize bookplate for St Giles' Men's Bible Class to front fly-leaf dated 1935. Otherwise a nice clean copy with some toning and spotting to edges. Cloth spine sunned. Jacket toned to spine, with some light wear and chipping to edges. Very good. Three classic Boys' adventures.

Publisher's printed paper cover, with two large staples to spine. Heavy oxidation to staples, otherwise near fine. A collection of contemporary book reviews, including a review of 'T.E. Lawrence: by his Friends', edited by A.W. Lawrence.

Each with a black and white frontispiece, and printed on fine, handmade paper. Both being copy 172 of 1000 thus, SIGNED by Graves and Liddell Hart respectively to the limitation leaves. Publisher's orange and grey buckram, with gilt titles to contrasting red and grey labels to spines and uppers. Top edges gilt, others untrimmed. With the grey cloth-covered slipcase. Spotting to box and to buckram. Spines a little sunned and toned. Clean, unmarked copies internally. Very good.

Publisher's orange cloth lettered in gilt to spine, pictorial dust-jacket unpriced designed by Howard Coster. Slight scuffing to bottom corner edge of the textblock, minor rolling to spine, bumping to edges of dust-jacket. Near Fine. This book is split into two sections. The first is a catalogue of all of Lawrence's own works, and in the second section there is a record of all literature that has been published about Lawrence.

Guildford: Genesis Publications, 2006. [Rock & Roll] SIGNED LIMITED 'STARSHIP' EDITION. Folio (total dimensions 52 x 34 x 11cm), pp.416. Containing 620 images. Number 46 of 350 copies thus, from a total limitation of 2500, SIGNED by Sykes and Rudge to limitation page. Full black leather with embroidered eagle patch and silkscreened page edging. The handmade solander box features a silkscreen image of the 'Starship' and silver foil blocking. Lenticular images of the Stones appear in the aircraft's cut away windows. The tour 'Access Backstage' silk armband serves as a pull ribbon. Also including Starship booklet, keys and passes, and a signed numbered print of Mick Jagger. A fine, as-new copy, unread in the original card mailer. Mailer shows a couple of significant bumps. In his role as the tour's official diarist, no area was off-limit for Christopher Simon Sykes. The result is a massive and absorbing 27,000 word narrative to accompany his many hundreds of photographs. Running throughout the book… Read More

no date [taken 1971]. [Glam rock] Original black and white photograpH. Printed by photographer Spud Murphy, titled signed and dated by him in ink to lower margin. In an elegant acid-neutral mount, glaze, and bespoke archival frame. Overall dimensions 37 x 46 cm. Fine. This classic shot shows the band at Marc and June's flat and was used as the 'Electric Warrior' poster/insert. A landmark LP, it featured the classic tracks Get It On, Jeepster and Life's a Gas. Printed later by Murphy, this fine image was obtained directly from the photographer.

A red splash to rear panel. Very good. Pound's translation of one of the Four Books of Confucianism, taken from the Book of Rites, first published in the USA in 1928.

Illustrated endpapers. With the photographic dust-jacket. Lightly handled, price clipped. Near fine. Harry Pendel is the best known tailor in Panama and is hired by all the top brass, but his past is a well hidden secret - until the British secret agent Andrew Osnard turns up. Basis for John Boorman's 2001 film, with 'James Bond' star Pierce Brosnan as Osnard, Geoffrey Rush as Pendel, Jamie Lee Curtis as his wife Louisa and, in an early appearance, 'Harry Potter' actor Daniel Radcliffe as their son Mark.

From the comprehensive bibliographical archive assembled by Jon Gilbert, with pencil ownership. His encyclopaedic guide to the works of Ian Fleming (2012) won the 16th Breslauer Prize for bibliography.

New York: Frederick Warne and Co., 1903. FIRST AMERICAN EDITION. Sexto-Decimo (14 x 11cm), pp.86. Illustrated with 27 coloured plates. Publisher's blue paper-covered boards with illustration laid-down to upper. Endpapers conform to Quinby plate II, with the illustration of Mrs Tiggy-Winkle showing the soles of her shoes (employed 1904-6), the earliest address appearing on title page '36E 22nd St' (employed 1902-1910), the copyright date as 1903 (later changed to 1905) and the earliest imprint 'Schlueter' at rear. Light wear only; a near fine copy of a fragile item. Potter's second-published book for children (1903), following Peter Rabbit (1902). It charts a classic course of Hubris, followed by sudden and inevitable Nemesis, with a little twist at the end to avoid the necessity of describing the flaying and evisceration of the protagonist. With a chromolithographic plate by the author facing every page of text. No 'Ltd.' to title page; endpapers match plate XV in Quinby. Publisher's brown paper-covered boards with white titles and bevelled square chromolithographic plate laid onto upper board. Slight wear to board edges; a couple of chips from spine head and tail. Very good. Quinby does not give an American example of this title in her bibliography, simply noting that it was published in 1918 at 50 cents. Not in Quinby.

New York, NY: Frederick Warne and Co., no date [1904]. [Children's Illustrated] FIRST US EDITION. Sextodecimo (14 x 11cm), pp.85; [1]. With a chromolithographic illustration facing every page of text. Endpapers match plate II in Quinby; publisher's address given as 36 East 22d Street. Publisher's maroon paper-covered boards with white titles and a square chromolithographic illustration laid onto the upper board. Black ink gift inscription to front free endpaper, dated 1906, some dustiness to edges. Slight wear to board edges, some splits to joints. Very good. Quinby states this title was first printed in the US in October 1904, but only gives an example from circa 1908-10. Not in Quinby; Linder 2 and 3; Frohnsdorff sale.

With 16 engraved plates by "Phiz", including a frontispiece and vignette title page. Lacking the signature 'b' on the list of plates, and the pagination of p.213 is corrected, but 'affectionately' is misspelled on p.134, and the name of 'Stryver' is misspelled on the plate at p.94. Publisher's green cloth with gilt titles to spine and blind decoration to boards. A black ink ownership to flyleaf. Light spotting to plates, and a bit of a lean. Spine toned to brown, with some wear to head and tail; light wear to boards. An attractive copy in the publisher's original binding. Very good. One of Dickens most accessible tales, set at the time of the French Revolution, and first published in November 1859. With 16 mounted colour plates, including a frontispiece, by Mulliner, each with a captioned tissue guard. Recently re-bound in red half morocco, with raised bands, gilt titles and decoration to spine, and matching cloth over boards. With the publisher's original cream gilt-stamped cloth bound in at rear. Toning to edges and final leaf, with some spotting to first and final few leaves, otherwise a clean copy in an attractive new leather binding.

London: Bickers and Son, 1888. [Shakespeare] FINE PRIZE BINDING. Octavo (22 x 15cm), pp.[10]; 386; [2]. With twelve photogravure illustrations including a frontispiece. Red full calf to boards, double-ruled in gilt. Green label with gilt titles, gilt tooling, and raised bands to spine. Gilt dentelle to board edges and turn ins. Marbled endpapers. All edges gilt. Rebound by Bickers. Interior bright and clean, the odd mark here and there. Prize inscription in black ink to preliminary leaf, dated to 1888. Boards slightly scuffed, spine a tad sunned. Some wear to joints and extremities, corners gently bumped. Very good. Charles and Mary Lamb's famous prose re-tellings of Shakespeare, intended for the enjoyment of children. This edition features illustrations from the Boydell project, an artistic venture which capitalised on the mid-18th century Shakespeare revival in England.

London: George Routledge and Sons, no date [circa 1880]. [Children's Illustrated] GILBERT ILLUSTRATIONS. Octavo (17 X 11cm), pp.[2] viii; 371; [3]. With eight wood engraved illustrations by Gilbert, including a frontispiece. Contemporary green half morocco with raised bands, gilt titles to spine and marbled boards. All edges and endpapers marbled. Internally clean, modern portraits of Shakespeare and Charles Lamb pasted to front endpapers. Binding a rubbed and worn to extremities. Good.

London: Baldwin and Cradock, 1832-1833. FINELY BOUND. Eighteen volumes, octavo (18 x 12 x 44cm). Finely bound by Riviere for Little, Brown and Co. Early twentieth century brown half morocco over cloth boards, raised bands, gilt titles and extra gilt to spines, gilt top edges, marbled endpapers. All volumes illustrated with an engraved frontispiece and title page vignette. Discreet location label to front pastedown of each volume, very occasional spotting. Binding shows very well with just some very light rubbing to the extremities of some volumes, a couple of corners slightly bumped. An exquisite presentation of Edgeworth's works. Near fine.

London: Eveleigh Nash Company, 1920. [Italian Short Stories] FIRST EDITION IN ENGLISH. Octavo (19 x 13cm), pp.256 [16]. Publisher's brown cloth, with fully-oxidised gilt titles to spine. Internally crisp and clean, with some off-setting to endpapers and quite heavy toning and spotting to edges. Some sunning to board fore-edges, and some marks to lower board. A little sunning to spine, and titles oxidised. Very good. Twelve short stories by the first Fascist, who took over Fiume in 1919.
