With over 45,000 separate titles listed, available on LP records, 8 Track or cassette tapes the emphasis of this periodical is, of course, almost exclusively geared toward the "content" rather than the means of reproducing it. Still, it was complicated times, the choices facing the audiophile could be overwhelming: there were still many LP's produced as MONO recordings, the outcome of the battle between 8-track and cassette to survive was very much in question (as hard as that may be to believe from present perspective). To top it all off Quadraphonic sound burst onto the scene seeming pretty inevitable. Schwann's advertiser's were well represented by the likes of Sansui, Acoustic Research, D-Stat and others.
