How about Polyhedral Sundials? My personal favorite is the gilt-bronze Octant with the cherub in the middle. This fascinating book on scientific instruments of Art and History is nicely illustrated in both full-page and part-page color photographs, as well as b/w line drawings. Each item is described, along with background information on how such items were used in the past. Included is a Select Biliography and List of Important Collections. 9"x11.5"; 208 pages. The dust jacket, now protect by a mylar jacket, has numerous chips to the edges, signioficant toning to edge of text block, as well. Pages are unmarked and clean. Off-white cloth covers.

Full green leather covers with gilt stamped lettering and decoration; light bumping to lower corners. Raised spine bands. Edges of text block are gilded. Peach silk moire end leaves and silk ribbon book mark.

Fine. Maroon leather binding with gilt decorations accented by 22kt gold. All edges, gilt, satin ribbon marker sewn in, silk endpapers. Printed on archival-quality, acid-neutral paper. Pages are Smyth-sewn into the binding for permanence.

Illustrated with b/w and color photos. Includes silver from England, Scotland, Ireland, The Ukraine, Russia and a few Judaic pieces from various countries. There is some overlap here in country of origin between the silver and religious icons. The textile section includes rugs from Persia, Turkey, China, and Caucasus. A little edge wear, but clean and bright, with no writing. 11"x8.5", 68 pages.

Lots 1-388 ; Illustrated primarily in color, including several lovely full-page color photos, some b/w. Most of the paintings and sculpture focus on horses, some on dogs and the hunt in general, as well as various other animals. Most of the bronze figures are from the Geraldine Rockefeller Dodge collection and are sold on behalf of St. Hubert's Giralda, an animal shelter founded by Dodge in 1939. Included in the hunt and jockey paintings are works by John Wootton, Thomas Butler, William Shaw, Francis Sartorious, Edward Troye, John Frederick Herring, Snr., Harry Hall, William Webb, Richard Barrett Davis, R.B.A., and many others. No writing, light external wear, unpaginated; 10.75" x 8.25".

Geneva, NY: W.F. Humphrey Press. Hardcover. Good. Fiftieth Anniversary Edition, but no date. Given the extensive confusion concerning the Stickley brothers various furniture endeavors, I'm not sure what exact year that would be. This catalog-in-disguise, however, does bear the mark of Cherry Valley on the rear board. In addition to many illustrations designed to whet the appetite of the potential furniture-buyer, there is text discussing the history of furniture making in Cherry Valley, the benefits of Cherry wood, and Leopold's visions of the future. Overall, a pretty slick piece of advertising for the 1950's. Signed by Leopold Stickley on the half-title. 8"x10.25", 51 pages, quarter cloth, paper-covered boards, rubbing and slight chipping to paper at edges and scuffing to back.
