Book is split along the spine with browned pages that are chipping. Begins with a young girl's first letter to Santa in 1928. (She wants a car and a doll). Includes drawings and childhood remembrances including a trip to Brooklyn, NY with her mother where they get a perm. It appears that her family moved from Kansas City to Chicago in 1937 where she was very involved in the Hyde Park Y. Her two red cross swimming pins are attached from 1930 and 1931 when she became à swimmer at age six. She participated in plays at the Y and eventually became the president of a club there. Her mother participated in a minstrel show with the PTA in MO in 1929, programs attached. Myrtle attended the School of Radio Theater. There is a postcard from the Hotel Mayfair in St. Louis. She participated in swim meets. She attended Hyde Park High School in Chicago and appeared in a 1941 Fashion show. There is also a program with a photo of the male 1935 Du Salle graduating class. Signed by Charles' son Edward after his death to Major Booth with the mailing label attached to inside cover. On half title page, "In memory of Charles R. Mabey To: Major C.C. Booth With Sincere Best Wishes! Edward M. Mabey" After the Preface is written, "Charles Mabey passed away 4/26/59." No dust jacket. HC is in fair condition due to a bookcover having been removed which removed portions of the burgundy cover, please see photos. The inside is in VG condition. There is discoloration along the inside binding.

Bumped edges of spine. Foxing or soil on outer edges of book & inside cover + on end pages. Very little wear to HC, except has slight soiling. Name on front end page, no writing on stories. Becoming a scarce book.

DJ - VG-, main portion is nice but very worn/creased/torn at edges of spine & by corners and bottom edge. (Please see photos). Slight bend in spine. SIGNED on front end page, name only. Book itself has chipping along edges with rubbed corners. Price clipped corner of dj. flap. Inside of book in NEAR FINE condition, pages have some discoloration from age.

Some of the photographs have the illustrators name in them. They are NOT considered Signed since they are pictures of signatures; however, they help identify the photographer. This is the third copyright 1907 published by Frederick A. Stokes Co. The second was in 1905 by The Butterick Publishing Co. and the first printing was in 1903 by The Brooklyn Dailey Eagle.
