First Edition, First Printing with the original dust jacket. The book was originally gifted to a young woman on her 12th birthday by her Aunt and Uncle in 1953. They regularly attended cocktail parties with Theodor Geisel. Geisel inscribed the book, "To _, with Best Wishes - Dr. Seuss" and then drew - what may possibly be - a cartoon version of himself, complete with bowtie, glasses (?) and beard. On the last blank page is an inscription, "To Linda - Happy Birthday from Uncle Mike and Aunt Emily. 29 August, 1953 - La Jolla, Calif". The boards are bright with faint soiling.
