[Boston, MA: By the company, 1903. A series of six numbered bulletins, hole punched and tied together with string. 24 x 16 cm. [4], [4], [8], 16, [2], [8] pp., plus a [4] pp. price list. Printed on glossy paper, extensively illustrated, including installation diagrams. Staining and chipping to outer leaves. Duplicates of bulletin nos. 2 & 3. The bulletins include: 1. Transmitters; 2. Single Point Battery Call Telephones; 3. Magneto Call Telephones; 4. Miscellaneous Telephone Apparatus; 5. Hotel, School and Apartment House Telephones; 6. Intercommunicating Telephones. The first bulletin is dated February 2, 1903, with the company located at 200 Summer St., Boston, the remainder show the business located at 156 Pearl St. Couch advertises itself as the New England headquarters for telephone booths, pay stations, protective devices, etc. OCLC lists two Couch catalogs (1906 & 1908) at Univ. of CA at Santa Barbara in the Romaine catalog collection.

[Boston, MA]: Boston Chemical Printing Company, 1831. Broadside on muslin. 30 x 29.5 cm. Three hymns, the first with music: "Sabbath School Hymn," including six verses and two lines of music, one for girls and one for boys; "We Never Part from Thee," in four verses; and "The Golden Rule," in eight lines. Circular & square typographical borders, with a printed line of text above three vignettes (one of a schoolmaster and his students): "Sabbath Schools first instituted by Robert Raikes in Gloucester, Eng. A.D. 1782." A few brown spots, but very good. Complex printing and visually appealing. Possibly by Sarah J. Hale, but not listed by BAL. Very similar to THREADS OF HISTORY #78, but unlisted and differing from it by including an extra poem, by not having a vignette below the text, and by listing the printer as 'Boston Chemical,' not 'Henry Bowen's Chemical Print.' OCLC lists three copies with the 'Boston Chemical Printing Company' as publisher: Yale, AAS, Boston Athenaeum.

NP [New York?]: John I. Donlevy, intaglio-chromographic and electrographic engraver, nd. Calligraphic bust-length oval portrait of George Washington, engraved by Donlevy, platemark 16 1/2 x 13 7/8 in. Matted, glazed and framed. Within the oval portrait which is based Stuart's "Lansdowne" image, Washington's face has been hand-colored. His birth and death dates are given in calligraphic style. At the head of the print is a small Masonic eye, and under the first word, a vignette of an eagle holding a flag and an olive branch in its beak, an arrows in its claw. Below the portrait is a small image of a hand, palm out, with a heart in the center. Washington's body, the frame around his portrait, and around the lettering is filled with different calligraphic and penmanship styles and types. Salmon colored printed paper wraps (covers detached, chipped at edges). 21 cm. 30, [2] pp. Ads for local businesses on insides of front and rear wrappers. The first two pages print the new publication's prospectus and cost of subscription: "The Reporter will be a 32-page monthly, devoted to the interests of the medical profession of the great Northwest, particularly that part of it which is directly tributary to the City of Saint Joseph." Some old staining to bottom page margins, else a good copy.

Greeneville, Tenn: John R. Self, Printer, 1876. Broadside, 40 x 25 cm., on a 46 x 30 cm. sheet. Text in various sizes and styles of type within a double line border. Signed in type by the executors J.W. Deaderick & David Sevier, August 25, 1876. Old fold lines, one small snag affecting a letter, one penciled correction, shallow chipping at margins. Printed slightly crooked on the page, a few visible printers slugs. A good copy. Catherine Williams property includes four lots on Depot Street, two unimproved lots in the "Grove Tract" at the west end of Greeneville, four lots near the railroad depot, one-half interest in the "Cold Spring" tract situated upon the mountain, three tracts on Bays Mountain, and the "College Farm" located three miles south of Greeneville, etc. Catherine Dickson Williams (1802-1870) was the daughter of William Dickson, a wealthy Irish immigrant to Tennessee. 1844. Bound volume of pamphlets and speeches, 3/4 plain red leather and drab boards (rubbed). 22 cm. A manuscript "Order of Contents" appears on the front endpaper, listing 17 items [some of the below listed items have been grouped together in this hand-written table], followed by a 2 pp. general index, a 1 p. index to the appendix, and a 2 pp. "Special Index to Texas Documents," all in the same hand. Other hand-written indexes, as noted, appear in front of some of the pamphlet. Occasional margin marks, some soiling and browning to text, last page of Gov. Polk's message starting, else the binding is tight. The name Boyd written in ink on the front cover, assume the compiler of this collection, and author of the manuscript indexes. Cloth sample book for shirts, two to five samples for each of 17 double-folded leaves, a total of 55 cloth samples, with illustrated descriptions of shirts, prices, sizes, etc., for both men and women, and table cloths; three more leaves with illustrated text only. OCLC locates two other Madison Mills sample books, one from 1921 (Fashion Institute of Technology only) and one from the "1930s" (American Textile History Museum only), but apparently not this one. Very Good. Original gilt-stamped burgundy cloth. (#7783).

Small promissory note, 4 x 7.5 in., signed by Samuel Kennedy: "Sir please to pay to John W. Moore thirty dollars and oblige yours." Docketed on verso "Sam'l Kennedy's Order to Joseph White $30," plus a short note of acceptance, signed by J. White, 6th July 1829. According to the Handbook of Texas [Austin: 1986], Joseph White (?-1830), and Samuel Kennedy (?-ca.1833) were both members of Stephen F. Austin's Old Three Hundred colonists. Following his father Moses Austin's intention to form a colony in Texas, Stephen Austin secured permission from the Mexican government in 1824 to settle some 300 families in Texas, with the promise that they would occupy and improve the land within two years. The lands selected were along the Brazos, Colorado, and San Bernard rivers.
