[4], 5-66, [2], [pagination followed by tens of photograph plates of sailing ships], [2] pp. Quarter navy cloth over blue buckram-textured cloth, spine lettered in gold. Lacks the dust jacket. Illustrated by a watercolor frontispiece, several in-text illustrations and photographs of nautical instruments, and a plethora of black and white plates depicting significant sailing ships in New England's sailing history. Written by what was then the Curator of the Marine Room of the Peabody Museum of Salem and the Curator of the Society for the Preservation of New England Antiquities. Publication number one of the Marine Research Society of Salem, Massachusetts. A Very Good book with minor rubbing to the extremities, moderate toning to the first part of the pageblock, and a couple pencil annotations.

[10], 11-127, [1] pp. Quarter grey cloth over grey paper boards, pictorial front board lettered in blue with decorations in white, black, and blue. Illustrated by a frontispiece and seventeen additional plates, photographs of where Nichols was born, lived, and photographs of a few portraits of him throughout his life. First Four Seas Press edition (the true first being published in 1912). George Nichols dictated his autbiography when he was 80 years old, this autbiography covers his seafaring life at the end of the eighteenth century and the beginning of the 19th century. Most of his voyages were to the Mediterranean, Northern Europe, and to the far East. A Very Good book with two owner's markings on the front flyleaf and traces of wear to the edges of the boards.
