Morrison is Professor Emeritus at the University of Leeds; here, he revisits the subject of his doctoral work, Paul Lazarsfeld, and his role in the development of focus groups for communications research. From the academic library of Matthew Kieran (1968-), Professor of Philosophy and the Arts at the University of Leeds (2009-2021) and the ASA/BSA's Wollheim Lecturer for 2021. Alongside Michael Svennevig, Kieran and Morrison collaborated together on a 1997 working paper: 'Regulating for Changing Values' (London: Broadcasting Standards Commission).
