Tired of Hangin’ Around?” The following were featured at the event: Bill Mathis (Congress of Racial Equality), Walter Palmer (Black Community), Larry Workman and Jim Moss (Teachers Concerned), Bill Sneed (Executive Secretary of SCORE), Paul White (Young Afro-Americans), Jeremiah X (Minister, Muhammad’s Mosque #12), Morris X, (Nation of Islam), Wilbur Graham (Black Panthers), Representatives from Moorish Science Temple, Steering Committee for Black Students at Temple University, and Terry Me Harris (Black Panthers). Mathis, Director of CORE who spoke at this event, organized a successful Philadelphia demonstration two years earlier, the same year of the Chicago demonstration and riots. Apparently unrecorded, not appearing in OCLC or in auction records or commerce.

Simultaneously published with the Oxford hardcover edition, this paperback (274 pp) is in VG condition with some fading to covers and staining to top pages. INSCRIBED by Aiken to noted woodcut artist, printmaker, designer, and author Clare Leighton: “for Clare con amore from Conrad 1964.” In 1963, both Aiken and Leighton contributed to the edition Poetry in Crystal By Steuben Glass, interpretations in crystal of thirty-one poems by contemporary American poets. Aiken contributed a poem “Harvest Morning” and Leighton contributed an engraving design to accompany another poem. A wonderful association copy between this National Book Award winner and prized artist known for her woodblock engravings.

The inaugural introductory training course that emphasizes teamwork in the field of homicide investigation, aiming “to coordinate all available modern techniques and tools.” Published after the seminar, this book includes a list of attendees and exhibitors and the seminar evaluation form and its results. Illustrations (sometimes gruesome) and charts and tables throughout. Covers chain of evidence, roles of forensic odontologist and toxicologist, sections on microscopes and computerized gas chromatography, mass murders, unusual homicide cases, suicide, psychiatric investigation of defendants charged with sex crimes, and deaths in jail. A fascinating look at death investigations in the LAPD in the early 1970s. None found in OCLC or trade.
