Mathis, Director of CORE who spoke at this event, organized a successful Philadelphia demonstration two years earlier, the same year of the Chicago demonstration and riots.Apparently unrecorded, not appearing in OCLC or in auction records or commerce.

The author was the son of Ezra Pound and the artist Dorothy Shakespear.

Santa is emptying his bag full of food down the chimney on the front, inside are two children decorating a tree, and the rear is an image of Epicuro and his weekly recipes, which includes “Canapes Festivos” (Festive Canapes) and “Pan De Navidad” (Christmas Bread). The ad also discusses toy giveaways. VG+ or better with a touch of wrinkling to top edge.

With previously unpublished poems and letter excerpts by James Wright, printed with permission of his widow, Annie Wright. Hunter College English Department partially funded this issue in honor of Wright, the Pulitzer Prize winner who taught at Hunter and who died in 1980. Also contains work by William Stafford, Thomas Brush, and Beth Bentley, as well as a 14-page essay by Nicholas Gattuccio on the style of James Wright. Uncommon inaugural issue, with publicity slip laid in discussing issue No. 2.

INSCRIBED by Aiken to noted woodcut artist, printmaker, designer, and author Clare Leighton: “for Clare con amore from Conrad 1964.” In 1963, both Aiken and Leighton contributed to the edition Poetry in Crystal By Steuben Glass, interpretations in crystal of thirty-one poems by contemporary American poets. Aiken contributed a poem “Harvest Morning” and Leighton contributed an engraving design to accompany another poem. A wonderful association copy between this National Book Award winner and prized artist known for her woodblock engravings.

Covers chain of evidence, roles of forensic odontologist and toxicologist, sections on microscopes and computerized gas chromatography, mass murders, unusual homicide cases, suicide, psychiatric investigation of defendants charged with sex crimes, and deaths in jail. A fascinating look at death investigations in the LAPD in the early 1970s. None found in OCLC or trade.

Alexander Laing’s copy, with his ownership SIGNATURE on half-title page—“Veronica & Alexander Laing 4 April 1962.” Laing is probably best known for his science fiction and horror writing and editing in the 1930s, including The Cadaver of Gideon Wyck (1934), Dr. Scarlett (1936), The Methods of Dr. Scarlett (1937), and The Haunted Omnibus (1937). The year before Porter’s Ship of Fools, Laing, who sailed around the world in 1934-1935, published American Sail: A Pictorial History.
