The scene depicts the Salvation Army Congress at the temporary Congress Hall in the Strand 1914. Delegates from a number of 4000 drawn from 35 different countries filled the hall in their different costumes. This image is featured in the book The Art of Fortunino Matania: catalogue of original art & prints as FIG 123.

This is the printed cover page from The Sphere dated September 18th 1915 and is taken from Matania's personal archives. The scene depicts the activity in the rear gondola of a Zeppelin. The powerful Maibach motors are in the centre being tended by two engineers. On the left is a look-out and machine-gun operator, with his hand on the trigger ready to repel any attacking aeroplanes.
