Description:
Leipzig: Karl Prochaska No D/J. Blue cloth with some bleaching to spine. The book is in good used condition - previous owners inscription to front free end paper, dated 1871. (German Language) Johann Christoph Friedrich von Schiller (10 November 1759 - 9 May - 1805) was a German Poet, Philosopher, Historian, and Playwright. During the last seventeen years of his life (1788 -1805), Schiller struck up a productive, if complicated, friendship with already famous and influential Johann Wolfgang Goethe, with whom he frequently discussed issues concerning aesthetics and encouraged Goethe to finish works he left merely as sketches; this relationship and these discussions led to a period now referred to as Weimar Classicism. They also worked together on Die Xenien (The Xenies), a collection of short satirical poems in which both Schiller and Goethe challenge opponents to their philosophical vision. You will receive the book seen in the image.. 4to - over 9¾" - 12" tall. Cloth. Good/No D/J.

Description:
London: Hutchinson, 1990. D/J is good. The book is good, clean and tight. Sheila Scott was portrayed to the public during the 1960s and early 1970s as a glamorous and courageous record braking heroine of the air. One of the few pioneering pilots of her generation. This was the way she liked to see herself. In private she was rarely able to live up to her own public image, which she maintained against a personal background of loneliness and insecurity, fighting a constant battle against mental illness. Although these aspects of her extraordinary personality and experience remained hidden, they make her flying achievements all the more remarkable, including the first ever solo flight over the North pole. Description:
London: Century, 1998. D/jJ is good, minor signs of shelf wear. The book is in good used condition. The whole world held its breath when Christopher Reeve struggled for life on Memorial Day, 1995. On the third jump of a riding competition, Reeve was thrown headfirst from his horse in an accident that broke his neck and left him incapable of any movement. In the years since then, Reeve has not only survived, but has fought for himself, for his family, and also for the hundreds of thousands of people with spinal cord injuries around the world. And he has written the heartbreaking, funny, courageous and hopeful Still Me. Still Me is the story of his life - his whole life. With dignity and sensitivity, he describes the journey he has made - physically, emotionally, spiritually. He explores his complex relationship with his parents, his efforts to remain a devoted husband and father, and his continuing and heroic battle to rebuild his life. This is the determined, passionate story of one man, a gifted…

Description:
London: MQ Publications, 2002. D/J is good, but price clipped. The book is in good used condition (never read) The book is arranged chronologically in seasons throughout the year, taking us from Chinese New Year and the festivals of Spring through to the symbolic religious celebrations of December. These extraordinary ceremonies, in the main, take place against a backdrop of some of the worlds most stunning landscapes. The festivals are always spectacular and the diversity and range are vast. Buddhist, Christian, Hindu, Islamic, Jesuit, Sikh and Taoist believers all have extraordinary ceremonies, but having a "faith" is not a pre - requisite to enjoying and appreciating each celebration. Each photograph captures the rites, rituals and ceremonies as performed hundreds of years ago, as many of these events have remained unchanged and unaffected by modern civilization. This book is to be especially treasured as a document that has captured for posterity many wonderful festivals and fiestas…
