Author's inscription on first blank page following ffep reads in full: "To Don / one of the select few who / were among the Queen's / last voyagers. / Best personal wishes. / William J. Duncan / December 1969." Volume shows a little very light rubbing along edges of cloth covers, mostly near spine ends and corners. Covers are very slightly bowed. Volume otherwise remains very tight, clean, and intact. Dust jacket shows a large moisture stain over the top third of front cover creating light discoloration, though not a significant change in color. There is scattered rubbing, edge wear and chips, and a couple of one inch closed tears on jacket. Image and lettering on jacket remain good, and jacket is now protected in a clear mylar sleeve.

RPPC of two young women and two young men dressed up for Halloween. Circa 1920s. This card came to me as part of a larger collection of postcards and other ephemera from White City, Kansas and is thus believed to have been taken there also. White City is about ten miles west of Council Grove and in Morris County, Kansas. Postally unused, though with an inked note on the back that reads in full: "Sister this is a bunch of my boy friends and a girl friend of mine and myself. It was taken on Halloween evening. Some bunch. I am the one with an X. P.S. I wish you were here to dress up to." Overall good condition, though showing very light corner wear, as well as the "X" next to the woman identified as the writer. Although the white broken lines along the left edge coming down from the gentleman’s hand looks like it might be a scuff, it is not and is part of the photograph (I think it might be part of the pattern along his trousers). . First Edition. Loose. Good/No Dust Jacket. Postcard.

Signed in name only on title page. Cloth covers are very slightly faded along upper edge. There is a group of about eight leaves with a very small corner crease. Volume is otherwise tight and clean. Dust jacket shows a few small and light handling creases. Jacket remains bright and clean, and is now in a clear Brodart protective sleeve.

Original cloth covers with advertising, are rubbed and show moderate to heavy wear at corners and spine ends. Advertising on cover is only minimally affected. Text block is broke near center of volume with some loosening of pages. Two affixed cloth book marks are lacking with only stubs remaining. One tipped in advertisement is torn into two parts. Other generally light wear. Contents are complete and clean.

Rebacked with black cloth with gilt stamped lettering. New end leaves, though trimmed just beyond the margin of the inside paste downs of both covers and covering no text of ads. Original paper advertising paste over on top and bottom covers are rubbed and chipped at edges, though letter remains mostly very clear. Wear along edges of covers. Contents show scattered smudges, though remain complete and mostly clean. Nice example of this very scarce city directory.

Lacking original paste downs on inside of cover and first leaf of advertising in the text. First six leaves with chipping along upper edge. Some smudges and penciled calculations on title page. Scattered light smudges elsewhere, though contents are generally clean, and are otherwise intact.

Rebound in blue cloth with gilt stamped lettering on spine, and original advertising cover laid on top cover over new cloth. Lacking first two leaves with advertising. Moisture stains and related tide marks affecting outside margins of about one third of the leaves. Tide marks affecting lettering of publisher's name on title page, though no other text throughout is affected. Volume is tight and is otherwise very clean.

Folding plate following page 28, "Freight Locomotive (Consolidation Type) for the Pennsylvania Railroad at the Centennial Exhibition is very good. Folding plate of "Double Truck Locomotive" following page 222 is also very good. Large folding plate following page 234 and titled "Plan of Tracks, West Philadelphia Yard, Pennsylvania Rail Road" has been misfolded and there is now some deterioration along four inches of one fold.
