A few marginal marks in pencil & some pages corner-creased; overall condition near very good. Scarce study of "flatulent distention of the stomach and bowels" and its surgical treatment.

Original stitched pictorial blue paper wraps with a few very minor fingermarks and creases - this is a remarkable survival and at first glance you would be forgiven for thinking it a modern reprint. Very clean internally with no annotation or inscriptions. The Sailor's Home was one of numerous charitable institutions, presented to the town in 1856 by the Duke of Northumberland who was also the Patron.
