Paris: "Le Livre", 1922. FIRST EDITION of Bauer's charming and witty account of love in Paris right after the First World War. The large-paper edition is limited to only 115 copies, which this copy is one of 15 hors-commerce "sur divers papiers". It is in fact printed on fine blue Rives wove paper, and is perhaps unique as such (none of the 100 copies for which the paper is specified are printed on colored paper). 8vo. Original wraps. A bit of faint spotting to wraps, else very good.

The first title is the first edition of the first work to postulate internal secretions via cell membranes: it is one of the most important works in the history of cell theory (see DSB II-302). The second title is the second edition of a lesser work by Bordeu. 8vo, contemporary calf, backstrip attractively gilt. Some wear to extremities of binding, front hinge cracked, but still attractive and structurally sound. Internally bright and clean. Rare.
