Description:
Rome, Watertown and Ogdensburg Railroad Company, 1897. Soft cover. About Very Good. 8 3/8" x 5 3/8. Railroad Receipt (Bill of Lading bearing signature) under the head of the Rome, Watertown and Ogdensburg Railroad Company. Circa 1897. Though the siding name is not legible, the load listed on the receipt (which is signed by railroad agent G.B. Avery) is "1 Car Black Ash", with ultimate destination of the hardwood being the Quigley Furniture Company of Whitesboro, NY. The purveyor of black ash who sent it was one W.E. Nelson. The load apparently weighed 24,000 pounds. On the reverse are the standard terms and conditions of the Railroad, which was for a period quite a busy one in upstate New York. Folded with a few small wear holes at one fold, a few wrinkles, some soiling on the reverse, and of course age toning to the paper (which is otherwise of good quality and still supple) .
