Reproduced, translated from stilted French into even more stilted and abominable English, the plates are hand tinted with velox water colours (very nicely).

The rather sad, true story about ANNIE TAYLOR (62 years old) who wanted fame and fortune by conquering the Niagara Falls in a barrel (1903). She achieved the deed, but it didn't bring her fortune, only heart-ache because of her appearance, her age and her gender. She still is the only woman to have achieved this feat.
