There is heavy dampstaining and wear to the bottom of the front cover. Twelve issues of these periodicals bound in one volume, comprising pages [1] - 144; [225] - 440; [1] - 440, illustrated with profuse textual illustrations, pictorial title pages & 3 steel-engraved plates. The front hinge is cracked. There is a tiny tear with wear to the front edge of the first leaf with dampstaining and foxing to the edges of that leaf. The spine has perished and the covers are faded, bumped, rubbed & slightly stained. A numbered paper label mounted at the top left of the front cover is crossed out in ink. ix, [iii] & 42 pages. The title is printed in red & black and the preliminary initial is decorated in red. Minor worming to the front hinge, a previous owner has inscribed 2 lines on the half-title.. This is an ex-library copy, de- acquisitioned by the Vassar College Library with their bookplate on the front pastedown, perforated stamp through the title page and a number at the bottom of the dedication page, overstamped with the word "withdrawn". <p>Limited edition of 200 numbered copies. Very scarce.<p>John Myers O'Hara (1870-1944) was a good friend of Jack London.

Good. - An 8 inch high by 5-1/2 inch wide page from a program for the December 15, 1921 performance of Bach's St. Matthew Passion by the Vienna Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Bruno Walter. The page is signed by the 5 singers: Lotte Leonard, Mme. Charles Cahier, Karl Erb, Hans Duhan, and Franz Markhoff. Folded horizontally with tiny tears or chips to the left and right edges and creases to the corners. This fragile program leaf printed on highly acidic paper is darkened, but has since been professionally de-acidified. <p>The German Soprano Lotte Leonard (1884-1976) [aka Charlotte Levy] emigrated to America during World War Two. Two clippings have been pasted on the front endpaper & the edges of the endpaper are chipped with small pieces out. Near fine. <p>The text of this advertising leaflet consists of brief biographies of Wendell Jones and his wife Jane Jones, with information about the work being exibited, The artists settled in Woodstock in 1931 and spent their first eight years there at the Maverick, the colony started by Hervey White for artists, musicians and writers. From 1936 to 1943, Wendell Jones spent most of his time as a painter of murals, executing commissions for the Post Offices in Granville, Ohio, Rome, N.Y., Johnson City, Tenn., and Cairo, Ill. The title illustration is a color reproduction of his mixed media work "Portola's Men See the Bay".

Pakington responds below: "should always be maintained but never overstrained / John S. Pakington". The paper, which is mounted on a slightly larger piece of card, is embossed in blind at left with a device and the words "Amor Patria". The left edge is slightly rippled from the mounting. Very good. Very good. - sc An original 4-3/4 inch high by 7 inch wide albumen print by Carlo Ponti depicting the Palazzo Vendramin, the residence the Duchesse de Berry purchased from the descendants of the Vendramin Calergi family in 1844. The image shows the palatial front of the Palazzo, its balcony overlooking the canal and front door opening up near a gondola moored next to the columns at the foot of a few steps. A sculpture adorns the garden wall at right, and the facade of another home can be viewed along the right of the image. Mounted by the photographer onto 8-3/4 inch high by 11-3/4 inch wide light green mat board with printed white double rules framing the image. The photographer's blind stamp "Carlo Ponti / Venezia" is embossed at the bottom of the mat and the image is identified in ink on the mat below the photograph.
