Tissue-guarded engraving to title page verso of each volume. Top page edges in gilt. Inscription to front end-paper of each volume and previous owner plate of Lord Davies.
These volumes were presented to Lord David Davies (1880 to 1944) on his wedding day. Davies was the MP for Montgomeryshire, and fought in WWI. Hid family own the Plas Dinam Estate in Powys. He was an active supporter of The League of Nations and became First Baron of Llandinam in 1932.

Books measure 210mm x 145mm approximately.
Dust jackets over red cloth covered boards. Portrait frontispiece to title page verso of vol I, and similar to vol II. Top page edges coloured red.
CONDITION
Both bindings are holding tight. Boards each have a few surface marks with minor crumpling to spine heads and mild bumping to corners. Dust jackets have cellophane type wrappers. Complete although with some splits, nearly all of length along rear hinge of vol I and partially to rear hinge and inner flap of vol II. Spines are darkened and there is spotting and foxing to most surfaces. A few losses to spine foot and head.
Internally the pages are complete and in good clean and bright condition throughout. There is only some moderate browning towards end-papers and paste-downs, and the occasional spot or mark. A few marks to page edges.… Read More

Book measures 170mm x 105mm approximately.
Bound and re-backed in later quarter plain brown calf over marbled boards. Engraved portrait frontispiece. Previous owner bookplate to front paste-down.
CONDITION
Very good condition overall with binding holding very firm with just a few very light surface scratches and light bumping to upper board corners. Internally the pages are uniformly browned and aged with regular random marks and spots, some to page edges with end-papers more heavily so.

Books measure 160mm x 105mm approximately.
Beautifully bound in full dark brown grained calf. Spine with five raised bands with title, volume and date in gilt to compartments. Plain end-papers and paste-downs. Tissue-guarded engraving to title page verso of each volume. Top page edges in gilt, remainder uncut.
CONDITION
In very good condition. The bindings are both extremely firm indeed. There are only a few very light surface scratches to boards. Internally the pages are incredibly clean and bright throughout. Just some minor shadowing to end-papers and paste-downs.
Overall, a beautifully bound set of volumes in very good condition.
