Munich: Projektgruppe Technologie Munchen, 1972. 30pp, with double sided broadsheet supplement, a single issue of PTM Info, approximately 295mm x 420mm in size. Edges lightly browned, slightly rubbed and creased with spots of light foxing, upper cover with small amount of staining to top right hand corner, but generally fairly clean. PTM Info was the journal for students of engineering and natural sciences at the technical college in Munich. This issue, number five, dated May 1972, has a front cover with pictures of Thomas Weissbecker, Georg von Rauch and Petra Schelm, members of various radical groups including the RAF and 2nd June Movement, all murdered by the German police in 1971/2. Internally lightly water stained to margins, especially bottom margin, but not too obtrusive. P5 and P6 with closed tears catching text but with no loss. Slightly later ownership inscription of Geo. Cossham? to front pastedown, book label of Peter Stewart Young to front pastedown, and with a manuscript recipe for making an 'excellent azure' to ffep, and others rear free endpaper. With two plates (one folding) and a folding table as called for. First published in English in 1804, a translation of Pierre Francois Tingry's 'Traité Théorique et Pratique sur l'Art de Faire et d'Appliquer les Vernis', there was a third edition published in 1832. No Place: No Publisher, 1847. Single sided engraved ticket, approximately 90mm x 65mm in size. Browned, some light abrasions to surface with slight loss of text (?Sec.) to right hand side, reverse lightly stained with ink and soiled from handling. The membership card of Robert ???, No. 136, and signed beneath by the Secretary D.[aniel] Campbell for the years 1847-8. An early card, the Institute only opening on the 16th of November 1847, at 109 High Street, apparently with a library, news-room, rooms for classes and lectures and a suite of baths, the terms being a shilling for entry and eight shillings a year, and it was shut on the Sabbath. Daniel Campbell is listed as one of the directors, with the keeper being Daniel M'Kinley (Fowler's Paisley Commercial Directory 1848-9). First Edition. Unbound. Good. 64mo (Oblong). Ticket.

Wisbech: Leach and Son Single sided printed poster, approximately 280mm x 440mm in size, n.d. c.1868? Chipped to edges with small amounts of loss, staining from tape to head and foot, a few small tears. The letterpress notes 'that great statesman [ie. Palmerston] whom we have lost", so presumably dates after Palmerston's death in 1865, and also mentions "the polls", so perhaps dates from the General Election of 1868? BBTI notes a Leach as a printer in Wisbech from as early as 1823 and as late as 1847, so this could easily be the next generation of Leach's as the printer here. First Edition. Unbound. Fair. No Place: No Publisher, 1797. Two documents, part printed part manuscript, both approximately 235mm x 370mm in size. The first (listing the properties) is creased from old folds, chipped with small amounts of loss not affecting sense, reverse lightly soiled with Japanese tissue repairs to folds. The second (setting out the rights and obligations of the agreement) is lightly creased from folds, with a few chips to edges. Rental agreement between Lord Stourton and a Thomas Smith, for a significant number of properties for one year, from the second day of February 1797, for the sum of one hundred and forty five pounds. Smith was to "keep all the hedges, ditches, walls, fences, gates, stiles, bridges, mounds and water-courses ... in good and sufficient repair, at his own expence ... [and was not to] top, lop, fell, cut down, maim or in anywise injure any timber trees, or other trees whatsoever, growing or being on the said premises". Not the shoemaker Thomas Hardy, of L.C.S. fame, but a Scottish Minister who was friendly with Henry Dundas. An attack on Paine's 'Rights of Man', which finishes with "the happy state of man in political society, is under limited monarchy - mixed government - the British constitution".
