He became Bishop of Southern Rhodesia in 1925, later retiring as Archbishop of Central Africa. A lifetime of service to christianity in Africa is chronicled by Canon Gibbon who served under him.

The Author, resident of the small Papenboom residential complex in Newlands which is all that remains of the original estate, looks at the establishment and history of breweries in the area. Favourably situated alongside a stream the area has a long and rich attachment to the breweries in their midst. This brief history looks at that alongside the changes that have occurred over the year and reminds us of some of the people and buildings that had been in the area. Well illustrated.

Mobil Oil Southern Africa. 1982.. No inscription, VG condition.. Printed wraps. illustrated b/w photos. plans. 4to. Text by Jane Barnstable. Photo essay on a self-help scheme, BABS (Build A Better Society) that created a 50 unit housing complex in the Coloured commumity of Kewtown, Cape. With the help of Mobil and Anglo American Corporation in 1982 this was designed to provide a quality living environment. The simplex / duplex units were from 74 to 79 sq.m. on plots of from 90 to 180 sq.m., all three-bedroomed with living room, kitchen, bathroom & toilet. The houses were let at affordable rents with the option to purchase.
