Octavo, 7.1 x 4.6 inches. 1686, Third edition, with sixteen new poems appearing for the first time. A8, a-b8, B-K8, L7, M8. (Complete, collating just as the Grolier copy, with the signature L7.) The engraved portrait frontispiece of Flatman which appears for the first time in this edition is present in this copy. It is bound in period calfskin, with spine repair that is tastefully done. The first few gathers are loose from the book (9 full pages). Book collates and all pages present. Has the bookplate of Edward Parker of Brownsholme in the County of York, along with signatures of other owners. The spine is very neatly and tastefully done, and looks quite well on the shelf. The contents are occasionally lightly browned and spotted, with no extraordinary defects. 44 libraries have copies.

Published in 1911 on the 50th anniversary of the beginning of the war. Condition of each volume is Fine. Covers have slight wear, very light rubbing and some spotting. Top page edges on all 10 volumes gilt which is in very nice shape. Gilt lettering and decorations on all 10 spines also bright and intact. Inside pages, including hundreds of photographs, are clean and bright with no spotting or foxing. All 10 volumes bound in blue boards, no DJ. Each volume is slightly oversize and contains about 300 pages of photographs and text for a total of about 3,000 pages of photographs and explanatory text for the set. Octavo, 7.1 x 4.4 in. First edition. A4, B-Z8, Aa-Zz8. This copy was formerly the property of Wadsworth Library 1868 and has its blind stamp on the title; library numbers appear on the verso of the title. The contents are cleaned and in good condition throughout, and the book is now bound in full handsome speckled calfskin in the style of the seventeenth century English binding.
Charles Cotton:
English poet and country squire, chiefly remembered for his share in Izaak Walton's The Compleate Angler.
Cotton made a number of translations from the French, including, in 1685, the often-reprinted Essays of Michael Seigneur de Montaigne, Corneille's Horace (1671), and several historical and philosophical works. Elisa (Elizabeth) Edes (Brown) Hickling (Wife) (1825-1916). There is a burial plot in Boston with Elizabeth Hickling but there is no date of death. She married Charles Hickling in 1841 and their son was born in 1845. There is also a suggestion in this writing that she also had another child and lost that child.

by William Bond Wheelwright ; with foreword by Otto G. Kress.
A fine copy with numerous illustrations and explanations of the papermaking process. A good book for the beginning collector to learn about how paper is made for printing. Crisp and clean throughout with very small exterior bumping on corners of the boards. No cove present or was issued with this book (probably glassine wrapped for shipment). Also a signed letter from David T. Pottinger, Associate Director of the Harvard University Press, Cambridge Massachusetts, dated August 1st, 1939 thanking 'Bill' for his lecture. Folds to letter with nice logo and chip with loss of paper top left corner, not affecting text.
