Significant staining to the fore-edge of the rear cover and some semicircular toning to the front edge of most leaves growing more pronounced further in the book. Otherwise a solid, clean copy. "Its disorganization notwithstanding, these recollections by a colonel of the 61st Virginia possess some usefulness in analyzing Lee's 1964-1865 campaigns" Nevins I, p. 163.

Black canvas strip sewn to the covers with an rusted washer sew over the canvas to the front cover; the contents are a single accordion fold leaf; light wear and rubbing to the covers. There is no text in the book and the title is taken from the rear cover. Wehr writes of herself on her website: "Most of my work relates to my experience as a European living in the U.S. . . . In my work I address the problems with complete understanding on both verbal and non-verbal levels, adaptation, nostalgia, isolation, dislocation and identity." This is an interesting artist's book containing a reproduction of the canvas on the covers that runs all along the folded leaf with images of various worn and rusted items sewn; all along, above and below the central line of canvas is a repeated photographic image of a smiling woman walking. Generally a nice set of this 1982 reprint in original wrappers. The spine is Volume I is a bit creased; UK bookseller ticket inside the front cover; Volume II has some creasing to the wrappers and several preliminary pages; Volume III is quite bright. All are clean but for some early bookseller notations in pencil.

It appears there is another inscription beneath Lahiri's signature, but we've been unable to determine if it is of a contributor or a previous owner. A nice copy of this collection edited and signed by the Pulitzer Prize- and National Book Award-winning author.

A very bright, clean copy in nearly fine condition; dust jacket is a trifle darkened at the spine with a small chip at the head; price is clipped; glassine is worn with tearing at the spine. A wonderful collection of caricatures, signed by Levine and Updike on the limitation page.

But the moisture rippling it is in Very Good or better condition. A more than serviceable copy of an uncommon scholarly text.
