The unclipped dust jacket, protected in a sleeve, has spine and corner chips(to a maximum depth of 1/4" on the top rear joint), closed tears, wrinkles, some soiling, and toning.

The volume is bumped at the spine ends, has light spotting to the front and rear panels, some top edge soiling and a double crease on the frontis which is mirrored on the front endpaper and half title page. The unclipped dust jacket, sleeved in mylar, has some soiling on the rear panel, edge chips and a few short closed tears, as well as a small piece on the top of the front panel which was reattached (with tape on the verso) and cosmetically dabbed with black marker which bled through to the verso (shielded by the mylar backing). This copy has a small ownership name of Asad Al Faqih stamped onto the top edges. He was the first ambassador from Saudi Arabia to the United States.

The volume is bumped on the spine ends and has light foxing on the top edges. The unclipped dust jacket, sleeved in mylar, is spine and perimeter toned, unevenly toned on the rear panel and edge rubbed with light chipping on the corners and spine crown.

The volume is rubbed, with bumped and abraded corners, the spine is mildly sunned, the intensity of the gilt lettering is diminished, and the spine ends are frayed, have splits, and there is a perished "n" in Doran at the base of the spine. The front hinge is partially cracked, the leaves are lightly toned, and there are a couple of over-opened areas in the text.

The covers hav e some rubbins and the perimeters are sun washed. There is light perimeter toning on the interior pages.

The unpriced dust jacket is without tears or chips, but is wrinkled on the spine crown, rear panel and rear flap. This is a heavy oversized book. Two grades of paper were used in the binding as signatures vary in brightness and toning. The volume has occasional foxing on the page edges. Corners are firm, spine ends are lightly rolled. The unclipped dust jacket, sleeved in mylar, is edge rubbed, with shallow chipping at the corners and joint ends. There is also small remains of a spine sticker and a closed tear along the rear joint near the spine crown.

The volume is bumped around the spine ends and the pastedowns have some perimeter browning (we suspect from excess glue used in the binding process). The mylar sleeved dust jacket is clipped on all four corners (excising the price), the spine area is sunned, and there is a snag at the top of the rear panel. A bookplate of author and bibliophile, Melba Berry Bennett is affixed to the front pastedown.
