Book has been thoroughly cleaned, but there were stains on the cover that did not come off. Inside there are a few pages in both the front and back with tiny purple/brown spots. Green cover with black and faded gold gilt image and lettering. No odd smells. Beautiful, colorful end papers. Text is clean and binding is tight. Black & green illustrations throughout the book. 179 pages.

Page 85/86 has the corner torn out, but the torn piece is in the book by that page. Text is clean and binding is good. A good readable copy.

This is the story of Dick Schaefer who joined the Navy on impulse, hoping that he would have some control over his future. He was not fully aware of the increasing military action in Vietnam. His account of his time at boot camp is wry and rollicking. He received orders to report to the US Naval Hospital Corps School, which suited him. He requested assignment to Hawaii, but there was no naval hospital so he was assigned to the Fleet Marine Force for three years.Book - Near Fine condition. I did note though that the bottom corners have been bumped a tiny bit, otherwise no edge/corner wear. There are at least 5 pages that have corner creases that have been straightened out.
