With a 'Proof Copy' statement pasted to half-title stating probable price and publication date. Publisher's completely blank white soft covers, titled by hand in black ink to front cover. Presented in a contemporary green quarter morocco clamshell box, with raised bands, gilt titles to black label on spine, and a lighter green cloth over sides. Covers well-handled; lightly thumbed and creased, with toning and creasing to spine especially. Box toned to spine with some light wear. Very good.

London: J. Rodwell [et al.], 1815. [Classics] FINELY BOUND. Duodecimo in half-sheets (13 x 9cm), pp.[6] 370 [4]. Very small print; all text in Latin. Contemporary tan full calf, with raised bands, gilt titles and decoration to spine, and blind roll-tooling to boards. Grey endpapers, all edges speckled red. A lovely crisp, clean copy internally, with light wear to binding. Near fine.

UK: Printed by Empress, London, 2008. [James Bond book design] Advertising poster for the 'Bond Bound' touring exhibition, held during the Ian Fleming Centenary year. Typographic style, designed by Webb and Webb (a photographic version was also produced). Approximate dimensions 33 x 23 inches, on heavyweight paperstock. Some trivial handling; fine (magnets used in display image, not pinned). This particular example was purchased at The Fleming Collection gallery in Mayfair, London, where the exhibition was held from April-June 2008, later moving to Edinburgh (August) and then New York (October-November).

London: Geoffrey Bles, 1925. [Modern Literature] FIRST EDITION. Octavo (19 x 14cm), pp.[8]; 305; [1], blank; [6], publisher's advertisements. Publisher's orange cloth lettered in black to spine and upper board. Toning to endpapers, water marks to upper board, some soiling to cloth, rolling to spine, wear to spine extremities. Very good. Cecil Street was a British author who wrote under the pseudonyms of John Rhode, Miles Burton, and Cecil Waye. He was a prolific writer, producing four detective novels a year for thirty-seven years. 'The Paddington Mystery' marks the first appearance of Dr. Lancelot Priestly, a character who eventually features in 72 of Street's novels.

A lovely crisp, clean copy, with just a touch of wear to jacket edges. Near fine. This play opened on the 2nd November 1972 at the Royal Court.

A masterful 'strange tale' in which 'The Pale Horse' is the name of both the village pub and a secret organisation which kills by black magic. The successful crime writer Ariadne Oliver (an exaggerated version of Christie herself) is called in to unravel the mysterious happenings... This is the final case (and perhaps the best) for Mrs. Oliver, who first appears with Parker Pyne in two short stories, and in seven full-length novels (six of them with the great detective Hercule Poirot).

Red publisher's cloth lettered in silver to spine, typographic dustwrapper with printed price of 6s to front flap. Some spotting to endpapers and to inner boards, toning and spotting to edges of textblock, rolling of spine, bumping to edges, scuffing to the to of the front board, soiling to back of dustwrapper, minor toning and scuffing. Very good. A collection of Housman's plays dealing with Abraham's discovery of a God, Jacob's discovery of a Conscience, a King's treatment of a prophet and a Prophet's treatment of a whale. Although Housman discusses the serious themes of ethics and theology within his plays, his work remains moving and humorous.

Brown full calf, with gilt double-ruling to boards and gilt-ruled raised bands to spine. Edges speckled red. Interior toned and marked, a few leaves dog-eared. Various inscriptions in black ink to front paste-down, red staining and chipping to rear paste-down. Edges rubbed and toned. Some age and chipping to boards, especially lower. Extremities worn and frayed. Very good for its age. This book, translated from French in 1698, became known in England as 'Tooke's Pantheon,' as Andrew Tooke, the translator, was 'silent' about its true author. It is an extensive guide to the figures of Greek mythology.
