Presented in a contemporary green quarter morocco clamshell box, with raised bands, gilt titles to black label on spine, and a lighter green cloth over sides. Covers well-handled; lightly thumbed and creased, with toning and creasing to spine especially. Box toned to spine with some light wear. Very good.

Typographic style, designed by Webb and Webb (a photographic version was also produced). Approximate dimensions 33 x 23 inches, on heavyweight paperstock. Some trivial handling; fine (magnets used in display image, not pinned). This particular example was purchased at The Fleming Collection gallery in Mayfair, London, where the exhibition was held from April-June 2008, later moving to Edinburgh (August) and then New York (October-November).

Publisher's orange cloth lettered in black to spine and upper board. Toning to endpapers, water marks to upper board, some soiling to cloth, rolling to spine, wear to spine extremities. Very good. Cecil Street was a British author who wrote under the pseudonyms of John Rhode, Miles Burton, and Cecil Waye. He was a prolific writer, producing four detective novels a year for thirty-seven years. 'The Paddington Mystery' marks the first appearance of Dr. Lancelot Priestly, a character who eventually features in 72 of Street's novels.

Brown full calf, with gilt double-ruling to boards and gilt-ruled raised bands to spine. Edges speckled red. Interior toned and marked, a few leaves dog-eared. Various inscriptions in black ink to front paste-down, red staining and chipping to rear paste-down. Edges rubbed and toned. Some age and chipping to boards, especially lower. Extremities worn and frayed. Very good for its age. This book, translated from French in 1698, became known in England as 'Tooke's Pantheon,' as Andrew Tooke, the translator, was 'silent' about its true author. It is an extensive guide to the figures of Greek mythology.
