This edition with notes and life by Walckenaer who introduced the full biography according to the English model into French literature through this work, Histoire de la vie et des ouvrages de la Fontaine. 1949 letter laid in to F. B. Thornton from George at the British Broadcasting Corporation, speculating about necessary cuts to the Latin American operation.

Evan's "Ballad's." originally was published in 1777 then expanded to include others found in old manuscripts and broadsides on 1784 and published again in 1810 by W. Bulmer and Company for Evan's son, also a noted bookseller and auctioneer.
