Narberth, Pa: Narberth Choral Society, 1921. Paperback. Good. [44] p.: illustrations; 22 cm. Tied with red thread; wrapper printed in red and black. The chorus was conducted by Clarence C. Nice. The soloists in this concert were soprano Lucy Marsh and violinist John Richardson. The chorus was accompanied by the Victor Orchestra. The Narberth Choral Society was created in the spring of 1921, opened the Steel Pier in New Jersey in June, 1921, and, as this program indicates, performed at the Metropolitan Opera House in New York City in Nov. of that year. There is no evidence that it continued to exist after that year. In 1923 Clarence C. Nice conducted the San Carlo Opera, in 1928 he became director of the Rollins College conservatory, by 1932 he was at the Orlando College of Music, and in 1935 he became state director of the Florida Federal Music project. American soprano Lucy Isabelle Marsh (1878-1956) recorded frequently for the Victor Talking Machine Co. from 1909 to the late 1920s, both…

Boston: David H. Ela, Printer, 1845. Good -. viii, 96 p., frontispiece portrait; 23 cm. Lacking binding. This version ends at page 96; it did not include pages 97-104, found in some copies, which contain poetry, or pages 105-108, found in other copies, which contain "From the South." Howes only includes the 108-page version. This is the least common version of the life of Lewis Garrard Clarke (1812-1897), born into slavery in Kentucky. After escaping to Canada in 1841, Clarke was active in speaking against slavery and dictated his experience, presumably to J. C. Lovejoy (1805-1871), author of the Preface and abolitionist. In Good- Condition: lacking binding; loss and closed 2-cm. tear along fore-edge of frontispiece, without loss of image; upper corner of frontispiece creased and lightly soiled; minor loss at fore-edge of title page; foxing and small stains throughout; solid.

Harrisburg, Pa: The Patriot and Union Steam Print, 1863. Pamphlet. Good +. 12 p.: 22 cm. Disbound. Former owner's name "Wallace" in pencil at head of title. That part of Seymour's speech dealing with national, rather than state affairs, which is reprinted here, appeared first in the Weekly Patriot And Union of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, on January 22, 1863. The author, Horatio Seymour (1810-1886), had served in the New York State Assembly, as Mayor of Utica, N.Y., and as Governor of New York from 1852 to 1854. A supporter of Stephen Douglas, Seymour became a leading opponent of Lincoln's support for emancipation, centralization of power, and restriction of civil liberties. He was re-elected as governor of New York in 1862. In his inauguration speech, printed here, he noted that New York had already furnished 220,000 soldiers for the Union effort and addressed the imposition of martial law and the necessity of restoring the Union.
