1912-1921.. 4to volume bound in full reversed calf, very rubbed at corners and edges of spine, morocco label on front board with gilt title. 208 pages recording visits by inspectors, which were at least twice a month. The reports cover from 3 - 57 lines (the last being a report by the Commissioner of the Board of Control, 1914. Mostly the reports say all well and the children in good health, sometimes giving number of boys and girls resident. There are comments  about repairs needed, granting requests by the Supervisor for purchase of pillowslips, mattresses etc. The school which was run by a charity, was for children with learning difficulties. In September 1915 the school was visited by Catherine Nevile, Central Association for the Care of the Mentally Defective who wrote 'Very much enjoyed seeing this Home. c1850.. Size 10«" x 14", buff card mount size 17" x 23", initialled 'WWW' bottom centre. Corston Farm was once a school, attended by Robert Southey when a boy. The farm, which dates from the 16th century, is substantially unchanged from the time of this painting. William Walter Wheatley (c1811-1885) was a prolific painter of antiquities, churches, and old buildings in Wiltshire and Somerset. He worked for various patrons including George Weare Braikenridge. n.d. c1950 or slightly earlier.. Manuscript on 8p, 4to, either an article or the text for a lecture (there re some crossings out and amendments). Written in pencil on rectos only. The text is mainly about the history of Devon Great Consols. 'Of the first men employed were three brothers by the name of Clymo who came from the Ivybridge district. 1881.. Notebook lettered 'P.I' in gilt on front board, 4to, paper-covered boards with cloth spine. Comprises 82p, in two different hands, brief biographical summaries of writers. There follows a list of Kings and Queens in English, with brief summary of their reign, from William the Conqueror to 1871. 52p. The last section is headed 'English Litterature (sic). Steinamanger december 11th '79. and is in English. 58p. At the end are 40p in Hungarian(?) about different countries. A note 'Finished at the 9th of July 1881' on last page. 1839. . In ink and some colour on thick paper backed with linen, edges bound with silk tape which has become detached in places. Size 30" x 39". Compass rose, scale bar, scale 4« inches = 40 chains. Shows roads, coloured buff, buildings, which are shaded in pink, copses shown with small trees, river, field boundaries, each plot numbered and named with owner and acreage.
