First printing. 323pp. Black cloth boards with silver lettering. 8vo-over 7 3/4" - 9 3/4". Some yellowing. DJ worn with chips and tears on cover extremities. Fading and tanning to spine. Rear has a b&w photo of Halsbertam as a correspondent for the New York Times. Halberstam's personal account of his fifteen months in South Vietnam as a New York Times foreign correspondent. He describes how the U.S. first became involved and why. Halberstam is prolific in his indictment of the conduct and leadership of the war in the field, of the delusions of the American military and diplomatic leaders there, and of the falsified and misleading statistics foisted on U.S. correspondents and newspaper readers. He became a subject of controversy for resisting enormous pressure from both Washington and the Vietnamese government to report the war optimistically. Finally, the State Department publicly admitted that it was in error and that Halberstam was correct in his accounts. Halberstam won… Read more

Description:
New York: Angel Hair Books, (1973). First edition. [30 pp]. One of 700 copies. Some soiling to covers, else near fine in stapled wrappers. The third installment in Brainard’s I Remember series. Cover photograph of Brainard by Bill Katz. Influenced by Stein’s repetition and by Warhol’s repeated-image paintings from the early 1960s, Brainard used this technique to leap backward and forward in time and to follow one chain of associations for awhile, then jump to another, the way one’s mind does. Coupled with his impulse toward openness, the “I Remember” form provided a way for him to lay his soul bare in a collaged ‘autobiography’ that is personable, moving, perceptive, and funny. In May 1969, Brainard told Anne Waldman: “I am way up these days over a piece I am still writing called ‘I Remember.’ I feel I am very much like God writing the bible. I mean, I feel like I am not really writing it but that it is because of me that it is being written. I… Read more

Description:
Ithaca: Cornell University Press, 1968, First U.S edition. Hardcover. 206 pp. 8vo. Purple dust jacket with drawing of a mother's crazed and intense psychological state of mind. 0.75" tear to jacket at top corner of spine and mild wear to foredge, else very good. This is the first English translation of an important novel by one of Spain's foremost contemporary writers. Experimental in form, lacking an obvious narrative line and conventional plot, it is a strange and shocking portrait of a woman's intense incestuous love for her son. One of the few works of fiction to treat the Oedipal relationship from the mother's viewpoint. Professor Bernstein was granted access to the new revisions and incorporated the author's latest changes and additions (among them an unpublished chapter) into this edition. Bernstein's introduction is an invaluable aid to understanding this rewarding, difficult work. Also included is Cela's postscript written for new Spanish edition… Read more

Informs consumer about the politics of Olivia Records.A separate lesbian feminist movement emerged in the 1970s that reacted to the discrimination of women within the gay rights and counterculture movements, and to the heteronormativity that was embedded in the 1960s US feminist movement.Women's music labels such as Olivia contributed to a 1970s lesbian sub-culture by providing a public platform for the expression of topics that were lacking in dominant political discourse, and helped consumers develop strategies to cope, organize, and articulate their experiences.Olivia Records went on to become one of the most successful of several women-owned-and-operated record labels that emerged during the women's movement of the 1970s.
