Description:
Namur [Brussels]: A L'Enseigne De Boileau Dindonne [Poulet Malassis], 1864. Hardcover. Fine. An extraordinarily pretty volume, being No. 4 of only 12 copies printed on papier du Chine, the paper being almost translucent. Rebound quite handsomely, probably by Pat Bruno in 2000, skinny at xi + 33 [5] pp., and from the personal library of the folklorist and erotophile Gershon Legman who here has signed the first free endpaper, verso, in his tell-tale hand, and with a note saying that the prior frontis by F. Rops is missing. On that same page, however, is a small, for lack of a better term, raised bookplate, two letters (N and I) intertwined in ornate fashion. Five raised bands to spine, gilt tooled title and publication date to spine. Member, I.O.B.A., C.B.A., and adherent to the highest ethical standards.
