Single Leaf (two pages) in elegant Gothic script arranged on two columns of 50 lines, framed by margin richly decorated with zoomorphic and anthropomorphic motifs. Woodcut depicting King and his court with two dogs; verso depicting full page genealogical chain woodcut with decorative margins. The Mer des Hystoires is a universal chronicle printed in Paris in 1488 and 1489 by Pierre Le Rouge for the publisher Vincent Commin. It is known as one of the most beautiful French incunabula for its lavish illustrations and as arguably the most beautiful historical and literary incunabula in the history of French printing.
