This is an Uncorrected Page Proof released prior to publication of the hardcover. It has been in a collection for the last 30 years and is unread. The front and rear covers are clean and bright, some fading of the blue to the spine. The pages are clean except for the top edge - slightly dusty. The book is inscribed by Ellroy with the words, L.A. sleez rules! and signed. A collectable copy of a scarce item.

Now regarded as a founding tome of Tartan Noir, Laidlaw and its author William McIlvanney was little recognized until recently. The book has many of the characteristics of the modern Scottish crime novel. It has always been a difficult book to find in collectable condition. This copy appears to be unread, being square and very clean. A little dust to the top edge of the book block. The jacket is clean, bright m no tears, and only and only minor wear to the head and tail of the spine and top corners. Uncommon in this condition.

This is one of the early Scorpion Press books issued in 1991. The author author, Peter Lovesey, had a successful career as a writer of Victorian and Edwardian whodunits. This book marks the transition to more modern crime; it does, however have an old-fashioned detective. Lovesey has since kept the Peter Diamond series going. This special Scorpion edition, signed by the author and being one of 99 copies, contains an introduction by Peter explaining his development as a writer. The book is new, and has not been read. The jacket is glassine.

The only Lovesjoy signed limited edition. It carries an Appreciation of the lovable rogue antique dealer-cum detective by H R F Keating. The 1/99 run sold out on publication. This is number 4 and was retained by the publisher. The author received numbers 1 to 3. As new.

Jonathan Gash (pen name) was a medical doctor who collected antiques and dictionaries. He is known for his crime novels with Lovejoy, dealer and solver of crimes. The television adaptation featured Ian McShane. This Scorpion Press production is one of the deluxe lettered reserved for subscribers. It has five raised bands, horizontal gilt titles and is also signed by H R F Keating, author of the Appreciation. The book has been in stock since it was produced in 1991. Sold as new.

It contains a new introduction, signed by the author and was issued in 2020 with a photo of detective Cassie Maddox from the BBC adaptation shown in 2019. The binding is real leather with five raised bands, gold titling and the scorpion logo at the base of the spine. The sides are marbled papers and the book block has been coloured black.

This book is based on a BBC Timewach investigation into the lost Temple of Java. It is profusely illustrated with photographs and illustrations, many of them historical. Mu - found the lost temple in the deeps of the jungle. Much of the investigation follows the journey of the British "governor" Raffles. A great gift.for the armchair traveller.
