AMS Press, New York, 1968. Facsimile reprint of the 1935 edition published by J. M. Dent and Methuen, the first complete edition. The burgundy coloured boards are in VG condition. There is minor bumping to the top spine edge of vols 1 and 3, and vol 3 also has slight bumping to the external corners. There are minor white marks on the spine of vols 1 and 3. There is slight spotting to the top edge of the text block of each volume. Internally, all three vols are clean and bright and tightly bound. There are no inscriptions.

John Murray, London; first edition, 1933. Dark green boards are in VG+ condition, with just some bumping/edgewear at both ends of spine. There is a small area of minor spotting on the righthand edge of the text block. Internally, the pages are clean and firmly bound. There are no inscriptions. The jacket is also in VG+ condition. There is very minor edgewear to both ends of the spine and some minor creasing towards the top of the spine. There is a Book Society wrap-around paper banner, and the whole is nicely protected in a plastic wrapper.

Oxford University Press; reprint of 1932 edition, 1968. Boards are in extremely good condition save for minor bumping to top right corner of front board and very slight and localised bumping to foot of rear board. Jacket has very slight fading to spine, very slight rubbing at top and bottom edge, and slight creasing at front top right (consistent with the bump to the boards); jacket is price clipped; slight browning to top of text block. Internally, the book is clean and fresh and tightly bound.

William Blackwood, Edinburgh and London; fifth edition, 1831. Leather binding with dentelle decoration, both gilt and embossed. Boards have some shelfwear to edges and hinges, and minor bumping at the corners; there is some very minor separation at the top of the front hinges at the back corners of vol I. There is minor scarring on the back panel of vol II. The boards of vol II has some very slight curvature. The text blocks are both in tidy condition. Internally, there is foxing to the inner endpapers and to title page and frontispiece of each vol. The tissue guard for the frontispiece of vol I is missing. A previous owner's bookplate is tipped in to the front endpaper of vol I, and the inside front cover of vol II. The text pages are clean and bright. The bindings are tight. There are no markings or inscriptions.
