Description:
Doubleday, Doran & Company, Garden City, NY, 1945. First Edition. Hardcover (Original Cloth). Very Good Condition/Very Good-. Book A well-preserved copy of a collection of 26 essays and chapters from Roberts' books. According to Jack Bales (1993), this book resulted from Roberts' disappointment with the collection published ten years prior as For Authors Only, which he thought sold poorly because of the title. Bales notes Roberts "wanted Doubleday to bring out a new edition under a different title," but the publisher deemed that unethical (p. 141n27). As a result, this Reader picks up 13 of the 19 essays in For Authors Only (five of which are renamed, as noted in the headings) and adds 13 more, largely chapters from his novels. Note: I have a large selection of Kenneth Roberts books and related materials. Contact me if you are looking for something in particular. Size: 8"-9" - Octavo (8vo). 460 pages. Item Type: Book. Text block is tight and unmarked, though the…
