The "Michael" is Michael Garvey, the Director of the BBC National Orchestra & Chorus of Wales which is Wales' only professional symphony orchestra in its dual role as broadcasting and national orchestra. Before joining BBC Wales, Michael was chief executive of the Academy of Ancient Music until 2013 so it is in this capacity he would have met with Eco.
