Description:
Paris: Olympia Press, 1956. 12mo, pp.181. Original green stiff paper wrappers, lettered in black. Very slight cocking, spine browned, otherwise a near fine, unread copy. First edition. No.31 in the Traveller's Companion series. According to the bibliographer of the Olympia Press, Patrick Kearney, 'Ataullah Mardaan' was '[a]llegedly a Pakistani girl living in Paris, married to a Dutch photographer and the daughter of a Pakistani psychiatrist.' Which doesn't help a lot. A very nice copy, and one of the scarcer Olympia titles. Kearney 5.31.1 Kearney 5.31.1

Description:
London: Herbert Jenkins, 1949. 8vo, pp. 241. Original orange boards, lettered in black to front panel and spine. Illustrated dustwrapper. Corners a little bumped, but a very good copy in a worn dustwrapper with a number of closed tears, and two large chips at spine ends affecting text. First edition, INSCRIBED BY THE AUTHOR: 'Oct. 20th 1949 To Find Graucobh on whose advice I went to the USA & therefore this book was written, with best wishes from Alfred Tack.' Find Graucob was the Chairman and Joint Managing Director of the Yorkshire company Nu-Swift International, manufacturers of fire extinguishers. He and Tack were business associates. Tack was a businessman who, with his brother, founded the company NuAire in 1937 to manufacture ventilation and heating systems. He later founded a business to teach salesmanship and wrote many books on the subject, as well as developing a sideline as a prolific crime writer. He wrote sixteen such novels; this is the fifth.

Description:
New York: E.P. Dutton & Co., 1952. 8vo, pp. 251. Original brown textured boards, lettered in brown on silver to spine. Illustrated dust jacket, photographic portrait of the author to rear panel. A fine copy in a near fine dust jacket with just a little light wear to spine ends. First edition. A Mike Hammer title, and the sixth in the series. In the first issue dust jacket, with $2.50 price to the front flap, and with the publisher's triangular framing device to the jacket's front panel. The circular version is more common. Although no priority has been firmly established the triangular device on all copies examined is slightly misaligned, causing it to wrap slightly round the front fold. This would suggest the circular version was issued later to correct the problem, and that this is therefore the first issue. Filmed by Robert Aldrich in 1955 with Ralph Meeker as Hammer. A key pulp title, and scarce in this condition. HUBIN, p. 385
