Stephen Vincent Benet, a prominent early 20th century poet, wrote his most famous book-length poem about the Civil War. Benét won the Pulitzer Prize for his acclaimed poem named after the song about the great martyr for emancipation, John Brown.

Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. First Edition. Copyright date 1747. 768 pgs plus Index. Rebound. Folio. Recent full calf with remnants of original paneled. New endpapers. Title page soiled with some small holes in margins, not affecting text. Upper corner of last 20 pages or so chewed, not affecting text, but affecting some page numbers. Contemporary ownership inscription to title page. Some staining to contents and some marginal folds and tears but overall a very good copy. Thomas Story (1670-1742) was an English Quaker convert and friend of William Penn, whose writings were very influential to Quakers. In 1698, he visited colonial America, lectured to Quakers there, and held positions in the Pennsylvania colony. Additional postage may be required.
