Osaka, Tokyo: Eyasu-Goshi-Kaisha, 1920 Textile books on dyed materials (cotton) lots of actual fabric samples
inside showing what the materials color would look like. I think this
might have been used by sales representatives for foreign sales orders.
These books are a bit rare and date to when Japans chief export
revenue was exporting fabric mainly silk but also cotton to the world.
All three books are not actually dated ,but are approximately from the 1920's.

These books are almost a hundred years old but the samples are mostly
good condition with a few exceptions. The books are 10 x 7 1/2 inches
(25.5 x 19 cm). The covers have stains and one cover has an inch corner chip, the inside samples are all good, some stains in the margins.

Helen Bullock was 18 years old according to book title page. The color
illustrations are really cute. One of a kind of book.

Johannes Thiel studied at the art acadamies of Munch and Stuttgart.
After serious injury as a soldier in the First World War, he worked in Freiburg im Breisgau as an etcher, painter and book illustrator. A special noteriety Johnnes Thiel attained as an illustrator of bibliphile works as
an etcher (illustrator to Moliere, Shakespeare, Cervantes, etc.), as well
as author and illustrator of children's books in the publishers Herder and
Kosel. Since the 1930s he lived in Kirchzartenin the black Forest. In his
freelance work he devoted himself preferably to the watercolor and made a variety of commisioned works for the Herder Verlag. During the

1920 A 1920 incomplete portfolio. The complete set had 16 limted edition
etchings. This portfolio has only 8 of the set.<p>

The text is in German. Limited edition of 20 , this set is number 10.
Contains 8 of the 16 etchings.<p>

The portfolio cover is in fair condition , has a stain on the front inside cover at the bottom right hand side and up 7 1/2" (water stain and foxing). Lots of edge wear.<p>

Each one of the etchings are worth quite a bit, the remaining etchings are in very good condition signed by Johannes Thiel at the bottom right hand corner of all the etchings. <p>

The etchings very a little in size. The borders are 17" tall and approximately 15" wide.. I have measured one etching which is 7
1/2" tall and 5 1/2" wide. This will give you a broad idea of the rest.<p>

A rare and hard to find portfolio in a very small edition.
