Stanley Nott. First edition published by Stanley Nott in 1935. This is a very good or better copy. The orange dust wrapper with black lettering is complete with only minor wear along the edges. There is no loss and it is not price clipped. The spine is faded. The book is square and tight. The corners are gently pushed. There is light and sporadic foxing that becomes moderate to 3 or 4 pages. Overall a very good or better copy. A book Ezra Pound struggled to get published due to its fascist overtones. Pound compares US democracy with capitalism and facism. He then draws comparisons between fascist prime minister of Italy Benito Mussolini and the US third president Thomas Jefferson. A controversial book, Pound's views would continue to be aired, in particular with radio broadcasts, and it would culminate with his imprisonment by the US Army in 1945. A scarce book to find with the dust wrapper and most… Read More

It retains the illusive promotional wraparound band in powder blue and red lettering. The book has some rubbing and wear to the bottom edge of the boards otherwise is also in nice condition. With no previous owner's marks and no foxing or browning marks. Tucked into the front is the publishers review slip. Overall a near fine copy and scarce with these attributes. Journey to a War is a travel book in prose and verse. The book is in three parts: a series of poems by Auden describing his and Isherwood's journey to China in 1938 ; a "Travel-Diary" by Isherwood (including material first drafted by Auden) about their travels in China itself, and their observations of the Sino-Japanese War; and "In… Read More
