Book is wonderful internally, but there is a charming gift inscription pasted on the front endpaper--somebody's grandma talking about the way to the heart being through the stomach, and continuing with "I can get most anything out of grandpa if I cook him chicken fried steak and gravy or fried shrimp, and, of course, chocolate pie".

Knopf, 1961. Hardcover. Very Good/Very Good. Burkert, Nancy Ekholm. Very early printing, price on jacket is $3.95. Final page with author bio states that the book was bound by The Book Press. Book has very minor water damage to the rear board but is in otherwise excellent condition; no writing or marks, two-tone illustrations throughout and full-color plates by Burkert. Minor red ink run from boards to page edges. Solid green endpapers. The dust jacket did its job protecting the book; it shows water damage and staining but is fully intact. One 1/2" chip from front lower edge, and light chipping at most corners. Protected in mylar. Detailed photos available upon request.

New York: Doubleday, 2003. Trade Paperback. Very Good/No Jacket. Advance Reader's Copy of dystopic novel of a future corporate-dominated world. Light crease to bottom front corner, one page corner turned down. Very good.

Pelican, 1991. Hardcover. As New/Near Fine. Wilson, Shelby. An oddball picture book about a giraffe who escapes enroute to the zoo and winds up a painter salling her wares in the French Quarter. Presumed a first, as this one can't have had many printings! In very nice shape, a slight wrinkle to rear of jacket, and an almost unnoticeable 1" closed tear to rear of jacket near spine.

Jacket has some rubbing, soil, small tears and chips, page edges somewhat foxed, first four chapters have underlining/highlighting, clean thereafter.

What appears to be a fairly scarce little book of mid-century humor from the journalist and author Thompson, with an introduction by Robert Benchley and illustrations by Virgil Partch. First edition stated. Very good in red cloth illustrated boards. Pages slightly toned. Jacket is good, with some chipping and tearing to extremities, and a bit of non-archival tape to the inside of the jacket at the head of the spine. In protective mylar.

Alfred A. Knopf, 1971. Hardcover. Very Good/Good. 8vo - over 7¾"- 9¾" tall. Very nice copy of this title, VG in an about Good jacket, slightly faded with chips to spine ends and top of front jacket panel, a few other small tears. Book itself is quite nice-- tight binding, unmarked internally.

Caldecott Honor Book sticker in upper left corner of cover. Cover shows minimal wear with tiny rip near top of spine on the back. Third printing of this Caledott Honor Book.

Book has some foxing to top edge, otherwise no notable issues--very clean with a tight binding. Jacket has closed tears to top and bottom of front panel, some tape repair, some discoloration from sticker removal, one tiny chip.

Cleveland: World, 1961. First Edition . Hard. Very Good/Near Fine. Novel of colonial India. Jacket is unclipped, near fine in protective covering. Book has notable bend/crease to one lower page corner, gentle curve to perhaps 1/8 of the pages.

A novel about the difficulties of a young black girl who is startled by the prejudice she experience when beginning high school. This is a first edition, in very good condition with a very good jacket. Not ex library, not price clipped. Pages a bit browned, a little foxing to rear endpaper and pastedown. Jacket has rubbing to extremeties, small chips to top of spine and center of rear panel. Orange rear panel a bit sun-faded near spine (1-1.5 in). You can identify a spot where sticker was removed from front panel, but damage not significant. No writing at all in this book. Quite good for its age.
