Good condition. cloth binding. Unpaginated, but lots of lined pages.

Small address label (Lambeth, ONT) of previous owner on rear paste down. fos on blank front leaf. Ms. Berton was the mother of one of Canada's most important and prolific historians, Pierre Berton. She moved to the Klondike from Vancouver to teach school in 1907. Vg copie but the dj is badly chipped with pieces missing at the top spine and back panel.

Boston: Little, Brown & Co, 1954. Hardcover. Fine/Very Good. Early, unstated printing with original published date of 1954. Cloth. 269pp. Illustrated with vintage photos, including of the author. Truly a Canadian classic, the memoir of the mother of famous Canadian historian and personality, Pierre Berton. Very slight slant to binding, but still fine in vg+ pc dj. We love the dust jacket art of Paul Galdone. which shows Berton in a long red dress and hat, with yellow cloak, standing with purse and handbag in hand with other luggage on a pier on the Yukon River at Dawson City, with a retreating steamboat. Very scarce in this early printing.

One page of his riding record. Near fine in vg (couple of short tears/snags) price-clipped dj. The rare first printing.

Westbank BC: Privately published, 1971. Soft cover. Collectible Very Good. 2nd printing "With slight revisions" from the 1st printing issued in the same year. Pictorial stapled light blue wraps. (52pp). Illustrated with interesting drawings by Esther Noman. Hand-drawn map plus map on back cover, "Ogopogo Land" showing area from Salmon Arm, BC, to Osyoos" (sic). The author states that this booklet is an "adjunct issue of Peachland-Okanagan Review." Marks does a good job pulling together Ogopogo reports and adds his own commentary. At one point he mentions sasquatch. Quite scarce item on British Columbia's version of the Loch Ness Monster.

Dated February 12, 1897, this company, located in London, England, exchanged for the owner 460 share in the old company for 345 of the new. Signed by W. F. Powell, Esq. Several notes written in black ink. Near fine.

Many brief histories of the communities that make up this rugged SW edge of the State of Illinois which, in the 1960s, your bookseller drove many times, particularly Alto Pass past Bald Knob. The author first entered these Ozarks from the central Illinois plains in 1899 and was enthralled with the beauty. He became the Principal of a school further south on the Ohio River. Fine. No dj. Scarce.

The main subject of this volume deals with the Crimean War, and it is dealt with extensively with news articles along with army & navy prints & maps. Supplements include "Baltic Fleet" and "Napoleon". Several pages are extensively torn & a couple pages missing. A half dozen or so pages with another, later document or flyer glued to them. Otherwise the usual minor tears & blemishes.

Originally published in 1904 by the Western Historical Pub. Co. This lovely facsimile copy is in a nice, sound binding and uses good paper. No reprint publisher information is given. It does not match the internet pictures of some of the current print-on-demand copies. Having once owned and sold a first edition, I can tell the reader that this is an excellent copy to own if you don't need the original edition. Published without dj. Near fine.
