Description:
San Francisco: John Henry Nash, 1916. Hard Cover. Very Good binding. Quarto. [6], 13, [1], [4] pp. First edition, thus; number 152 of 165 copies. As issued, in buff paper over boards with a printed paper title label on front and rear board; text in black, title and shoulder notes in red. Binding is a trifle soiled including some staining to fore-edge of the front board at the bottom corner; contemporary gift inscription on the first blank; contents are clean. Stunningly reprinted, perhaps no other printer at the time had such a similar aesthetic Cobden-Sanderson's Dove Press--clean and elegant in type and page design. Nash really does capture the spirit of the original. Cobden-Sanderson thought so as well and wrote Nash: "What a perfectly beautiful book you have made of The Book Beautiful! I am enchanted with it! Paper, type, arrangement, all combined under your clever hands to a while which is at once a thing of beauty and a symbol of that great order touched with delight which I am never tired… Read More

London: Chapman & Hall, 1893. Hard Cover. Very Good binding. Octavo. vi, [2], 256, 4 (ads) pp., frontis., plates, illus. First edition. In publisher's cloth with arrowhead motif in gilt on the front board, all for inserted plates present as called for. Spine a bit sunned; binding is a trifle rubbed but presents fairly well. An adhesive mend to the front hinge has left the front free endpaper unable to lay flat when the front cover is opened; endpaper at the rear hinge is separated, but the hinge remains relatively stable. This is Variant 1 without the publisher's device in blind on the rear board. Payne A7a.

Description:
Richmond: Garrett and Massie, 1932. Hard Cover. near Very Good binding. Quarto. xvi, 206 pp. First edition, signed by Page on the half title. As issued, backed in cloth with cloth-over-boards; spine sunned and covers a bit soiled; contents clean. This copy is from the library of Eppa Hunton IV, grandson of the Confederate General and United States Senator by the same name. Additionally is a letter from Page to Hunton IV about the book and the several mentions of General Hunton in this epic poem. Page remarks about having read some of these passages from the manuscript to Hunton IV's father; a warm note indeed; laid in typed response (unsigned) to Page. Hunton IV has noted in pencil the pages on which his both of his grandfathers appear, General Eppa Hunton and General Willam Payne. There is pencil underlining and brief marginal notes at those pages. A very nice association copy.

[New York]: Wm. G. Boggs, 1842. Original Wrappers. Good binding. Octavo. 46, [2 (blank)] pp. As issued, stitched into self wrappers. Cover is generally soiled; final blank is creased with some notable closed tear; contents clean. Mayor Morris refused to swear in Heath and Roome as assessors, claiming election irregularity. The state supreme court held: "The loss of the votes in one of the four districts into which the Sixth war was divided, did not defeat the election in that ward. If the votes of the First district are to be considered as wholly out of the question, in consequence of the riotous proceedings which drove the Inspectors from the room where they were canvassing, the result of the election must then be determined from the votes of the three remaining districts.
