West Warwick, R.I. : Necronomicon Press, 1996. First Printing. The second biography of Howard Phillips Lovecraft, this Herculean undertaking by S.T. Joshi exhumes incredible minutae of HPL's life and times, and may be dense reading for many; you could term L. Sprague de Campt's biography as a general introduction to the man, whereas Joshi gets inside HPL's skin with a surgeon's skills.This hardbound edition of 250 signed copies was sold out before publication. With the addition of new HPL discoveries, this biography was expanded by Joshi and published in a two-volume set by Hippocampus Press,but this single volume contains all the meat & potatoes, and is the one I find myself referencing most easily. As new in d.j., signed by the biographer.

Prairie City, Illinois: The Decker Press, 1950. [First Edition]. The author's first book includes Crazy Horse, Custer, Cochise, and Billy The Kid, as subjects of his poetry. Brennan was a poet before fictioneer, and remained a poet up until his death. Presentation copy, inscribed and signed from the author, and also signed by the author's wife Doris Phildrick, who was also a poet, "To our friend R. Dixon Smith. December 6, 1986." The Decker Press was the private press of James A. Decker, which specialized in printing poetry. A Fine-Very Fine copy, in like d.j.

New York,: Del Rey/Ballantine Books,, 1984.. First Edition.. The third, book of the HEECHEE cycle with the continuing character, Robinette Broadhead, and his computer program, 'Albert' after Albert Einstein. The twenty-page prologue summarizes the two previous books, so you don't have to read them to be caught up. Signed "F. Pohl" on the title-page. A fine copy in very lightly rubbed d.j.

CAS okay'd more than 30 page proofs before he died. The publication that launched the Private Press of Roy A. Squires, and printed by both Squires and his friend, Clyde Beck, "upon whose urging the press was founded," but dropped out of the venture after the completion of this first book.. One of only 175 copies bound in stiff paper covers. A very fine copy. There were also 175 copies hardbound. One of the variants with laid-paper covers, printed in green.

Sauk City,: Arkham House, 1950. [First Edition]. A collection of forty-seven macabre themed poems, originally published in various journals and magazines, including Weird Tales, Wings, The Arkham Sampler, and others. One of the included poems, 'The Ballad of the Jabberwock' won the Stephen Vincent Benet award in 1946. Werewolves, Dragons, Witches, Kelpies, Fauns, Centaurs, are only a smattering of the mythical and supernatural subjects explored. Readily approachable, the majority of poems are only a page in length. Drake was a popular Weird Tales poet with more appearances in WEIRD TALES than Robert E. Howard, Clark Ashton Smith, or H.P. Lovecraft. With so few copies printed, [553 copies]the book is a legendary Arkham House rarity, with only half the edition run offered to the public. The printing on the spine of this copy runs British stylefrom bottom to topas I believe it does on all copies. Hollywood: Universal Pictures, 1945. [First Printing]. An original lobby card from the 1945 motion picture, HOUSE OF DRACULA, which gathered together (again!) 'The Avengers' of Universal MonstersFrankenstein, Dracula, and the Wolfman, with Glenn Strange as the Frankenstein monster, John Carradine as Dracula, and Lon Chaney, Jr., as The Wolfman; and lead us not forget, "Nina" the hunchbacked nurse, as played by Jane Adams, and pictured here in the lobby-card. A fine example of this scene from the movie, no pinholes.
