Book measures 225mm x 140mm approximately.
Handsomely bound in full speckled tan calf. Spine (possibly later) with five raised gilt-ruled bands with elaborate blind-tooled decorative work to gilt-boxed compartments and title and author in gilt. Single gilt fillet border to both boards. Series of anatomical and biological engraved illustrations throughout. Sand coloured end-papers and paste-downs.
CONDITION
In overall very good condition with binding firm and strong. Boards have a few minor scuffs, light surface scratches, with moderate bumping to corners. The spine has a lighter olive colour (again, possibly later). Previous owner bookplate central to front paste-down.
Internally the pages are very clean throughout with just a few occasional spots and light foxing towards end-papers.

CONDITION
In good condition. The books are strong and tight. The dust jackets have a little wear and creasing to edges and hinges and the odd tear. Slight losses to the top of spine on volume I. The odd spot to page edges and end-papers, otherwise fresh and clean throughout. None are price-clipped and no inscriptions.

Bound in contemporary full tan calf with more recent superbly tooled spines. Spines with five gilt-ruled raised bands and elaborate gilt decoration and motifs to compartments. Twin light brown title and volume labels, with date in gilt to spine foot.
CONDITION
Overall, in very good condition, with each volume holding tight and firm. Spines are probably early 20th century and in great condition, with just some tiny surface scratches. Boards exhibit occasional nicks, chips and some small losses of leather, slight bumping to lower corners, but nothing serious overall, with the bindings retaining a rich lustre.
