An early analysis of Houdini, the Worlds Handcuff King and amazing Prison Breaker (p. 1), focused on An Accurate Account of Every Week and Month That Houdini Has Spent Abroad From 1900 to His Return to America, 1906, with accounts of Houdini suing the Cologne Police for libel, his escapes from triple-locked cells and how he picked the mirror handcuffs in one hour and ten minutes, and his escape from a Boston Prison in sixteen minutes. Included as well are nine limericks about Houdini breaking out of the Boston prison. Scarce. No copies in commerce and only 6 holdings per OCLC (LOC, Wisconsin, Boston Athenaeum, Dartmouth, Peabody Essex Museum, Buffalo and Erie County Library).

Boyden to Sid on ffep (whose ownership stamp appears opposite on pastedownhe graduated Deerfield in 1932, served in WWII, and worked as an advertising executive in New York before dying in 1998); and INSCRIBED to Sidney by Helen Boyden on p. 137 under a photo of her teaching at Deerfield. McPhees second book, a stirring portrait of Boyden, who was Headmaster of the prestigious Deerfield Academy in western Massachusetts from 1902-1968. Scarce signed by McPhee and by both Frank and Helen Boyden.
