Frankfurt am Mann (Hesse, Germany), 1670. First edition. Hardcover. Very good. 18mo (Hardcover (4.25"x6.5"). 192pp. Full leather binding. Seven gouges to front cover, presumed insect damage, largest gouge .75"x.25". Mild scuffing. Five raised bands on spine. Top 1" of spine missing leather. Bottom .25" of spine leather missing. Exterior hinges cracked; 1" on lower front, 1.5" to upper rear. Rear boards show another half dozen gouges, with one area 1.5" x .75" rubbed; all suspected, as with the front cover, due to insects. Front and rear boards slightly outward bowed.Prior owner (Ioannes Fridericus Gunter de Sternegg) decorative bookplate pasted to interior front cover. Another insect suspected spot (.25") to paper on interior front cover. Text block yellowed, but really rather supple given age. No marks, notations or insect damage in text block. Books published in Frankfurt did not start mentioning publisher until 1676. Text in German.
