No Place: No Publisher Single sided trade card, approximately 95mm x 60mm in size, no publisher (presumably produced 'in house'), n.p. but almost certainly Glasgow, n.d. c.1853. Slightly discoloured to edges, especially left hand side, corners of reverse lightly glue stained. Gilmour [J.B.] and Dean [Alexander Davidson] are described as stationers and general printers, with account books, binding, paper ruling, embossing etc to foot. The address on the card isn't matched exactly in the SBTI, which has them at 86 Buchanan Street and 13 Exchange Place between 1846-52 and 86 Buchanan Street and 13 & 15 Exchange Place in 1853. We have given 1853 as it is the first time that 15 Exchange Place is seen as an address. First Edition. Unbound. Good. 64mo (Oblong). Trade Card.

Wide ranging and eccentric from a theocratic viewpoint, including chapters on Malthus, the Stoics, taxation, the evils of the national debt and oligarchy. First Edition. Hardback. Good+. 8vo.

Weimar: London Und Paris Magazine Hand coloured engraved caricature, approximately 275mm x 225mm in size, n.d. c.1806. Trimmed quite closely but without loss to image, minor creasing from original folds, otherwise fairly bright and clean. Caricature by Gillray, originally published in May 1806 by H.[annah] Humphrey, this was reproduced by Carl Starcke for the 'London und Paris' magazine, which appeared eight times a year in octavo between 1798 and 1815, with each issue consisting of three parts, opening with articles from London, then Paris and a third, satirical, part comprising English and French political caricatures (See Deuling, 'Aesthetics and Politics in the Journal London und Paris (1798-1815)' in Oergel (Ed), '(Re-) Writing the Radical - Enlightenment, Revolution and Cultural Transfer in 1790s Germany, Britain and France', pages 102-118). Lugduni Batavorum (Leiden): Jordanum Luchtmans and Johannem Du Vivie, 1690. One volume in two - Volume One - [24], 432pp and Volume Two - 433-832pp, [40]. Later (late-eighteenth century) full-calf, raised bands, spines in six panels, contrasting title / volume labels to second and third panels, volute corner pieces and central lozenge shaped tool to remaining panels, gilt flower head frame to covers, all edges marbled with blue paste endpapers. Chipped to head of spines, corners bumped and worn, volume label of volume one is chipped with loss. Pages slightly browned, but clean and fairly bright. Previous owners name to title and first page of text. Additional engraved title. Dibdin notes that "this is a very elegant and desirable edition ...
