The first volume concerns the origins of the name in Scotland and how they spread to Cornwall and Devon. The whole of volume 2 and approx. a third of volume 3 is devoted to Cornwall. 1840.. Long vellum sheet, size 3«" x 22", listing  their children (with spouses) and their grandchildren. Date of birth in column on left, date of death on right. The record would appear to have been written out in the second decade of the 19th century, and then copied - there is a note on the back in the same hand 'Jane Brightwen copied 9 mo. 1840.' Some dates of death have been filled in much later... together with... QUAKER BIRTH CERTIFICATE for the birth on 7th July 1762 in Clerkenwell Close in the Parish of St. James Clerkenwell, of Mary, daughter of John Sims and Ann his Wife. Nine lines printed on vellum, size 5«" x 7", with details added in manuscript. Signed by three women witnesses, including the Midwife. Mary's birth is noted in the genealogy above.
